Provincial Grand Lodge of Andalucía

Author: R.H. José Carrasco y Ferrando.

Historically, as similarly occurred in England, the United States of America and Germany, with the regional Grand Lodges there created, in August 1886 was constituted the federation of the Symbolic Grand Lodge of Catalonia-Balearics. Not many years later and emulating the Grand Lodge of Catalonia-Balearics, in 1889 the Symbolic Grand Lodge of Galaica was founded with its headquarters in Santiago de Compostela; in 1891 the Provincial Symbolic Grand Lodge of Málaga; in 1893 the Provincial Grand Lodge of Murcia and in 1889 the Regional Grand Lodge of Andalucía is formed with its headquarters in Córdoba.

With regards to the Provincial Grand Lodgers, the Constitution of the Grand Lodge of Spain requires that the best and most efficient government body of the obedience demands that the functions of the Grand Lodge and the Grand Master are partially delegated and shared with the local governing bodies for its supervision and service to the Lodges of the area. Therefore the Grand Lodge of Spain and in his name the Grand Master have the authority to form Provincial Grand Lodges to attend the Masonic circumstances of a certain geographic area under its jurisdiction for the Lodges established in the area.

The governing body of the Provincial Grand Lodge is entrusted to a Provincial Grand Master who is designated by the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain, who could replace him by own decision.

The creation of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Andalucía and Canary Islands was issued by Decree number 176, and signed by the then Grand Master, Luis Salat Gusil (GLA) and stating:
